The term “Stroke also referred to as Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) or commonly known as brain attack and is a Medical emergency requires  immediate treatment, if not the outcome is fatal and patient may die.

Stroke is a condition in which there is stoppage of blood to the brain. As we know blood carries various nutrients, oxygen and glucose to the brain, when it is denied the brain cells will die in time and irreversible condition occurs resulting in permanent brain damage.

Causes of stroke, What causes stroke ?

Common cause of stroke is due to the blockage in the artery usually due to a clot formation or deposition of fatty plaques in the wall of the arteries leading to blockage of blood to the brain.

Cerebrovascular accident can also occur due to formation of embolus in the heart itself; gradually this clot may be transformed to the brain ultimately leading to complete blockage of blood to the brain, resulting in deficient supply of nutrients to brain as a result brain cells may die and causes brain stroke or paralysis.

One more reason of stroke is due to any of the reason, internal bleeding occurs inside the brain leading to spilling of blood to the brain tissue and the outcome is origin of stroke and its symptoms such as loss of function of limbs.

Another rare cause of stroke is development of vasculitis; it is a condition in which blood vessels become inflamed causing deficient blood supply to brain and causes stroke.

Risk factor causes stroke are

Smoking, consumption of alcohol, increased blood pressure, diabetes mellitus and increased aging may cause stroke in the individual.

Symptoms of stroke

Symptom of stroke depends on extent of blockage in the artery, amount of blood supply to the brain, magnitude of brain damage and area of brain tissue affected.

Stroke client experience sudden lack of sensation in the body or a sort of weakness especially in the face, arm, leg over one side of the body or some time the client may experience tingling sensation in the area affected, lack of stability in lifting arms and legs of the affected part and most commonly client may experience lack of power to feel the sensation.

When client with stroke tries to smile, experience drool in one side of the mouth.

Stroke client may experience sudden onset of confusion, difficulty in speech, unable to explain correctly, could not able to catch right sentences in time and saliva is out putted from mouth. These are the main symptoms of stroke.

Cerebrovascular accident or stroke client may experience imbalance in the body movement, lack of coordination during walking, sitting, standing, climbing stairs etc.

Stroke or paralysis person may experience sudden and recurrent headache, episodes of vomiting, dizziness and altered level of consciousness can accompany.

Individual with stroke attack experience difficulties in vision, it may be of blurred vision, double vision and blackened vision and disorientation is more common with brain accident.

This all above features can be regarded as warning sign of stroke, When a client experience all above symptoms, is advised to get reported to hospital and get consulted with the doctor in time.
